Various and Sundry Updates

Supplies

Although it is definitely a WIP, Kemo wanted everyone to know what’s up with the North Room and our new “Supply Central”.

--An orphanage has been created in the northwestern corner.

--Sales items (Flintoff watercolors, books, brochures, etc.) have been grouped together in the middle of the room.

--Items to be salvaged have been recorded and will go away soon. Thanks, Barbara!

--“Supply Central” is being established in the flat files, on the shelves, and around the first big table on the right upon entering the room. The goal is to gather together most of the supplies (mostly archival boxes) that have been stashed in and around the STKS, 5R, etc. Hopefully, we can keep like sizes together and have a sample box, envelope – whatever on top or taped to the containers.

--Kemo would like to urge that we all make a daily contribution (even if it is tiny) to organizing for our Move into new digs.

Outgoing Mail

The outgoing mailbox has migrated to Barbara's desk.

Shifting

We’re on the home stretch of the shifting project (yay!) and, Kemo and Mary have developed A Plan:

--The shifting will go on the front burner with vigor.

--The 200s and 800s will stay in Closed Stacks.

--The VTs will be shelved on the peripheral shelving leaving the range nearest Kemo's office completely free.

--The liberated shelving will be the location for the latest, greatest breakout collections in HMRC – the PAM and FOLIO collections. FYI: These collections will actually be indicated as such in the OPAC.

And finally,

Registration Process

When Kemo was working on Saturday, she decided to proceed with eliminating the registration process. Everyone check your mailboxes for a memo on the new process, and watch here for updates!
