Proclamation: Live in the now

It has been pointed out that when adding an “e” on to Tim one creates Time, perhaps a good omen upon this momentous occasion when the mantle of the keeper of the hours is transferred from the shoulders of Chronos, primordial god of time, to the back of Aeon. Let it be known by all that with “eye on” the requests of his colleagues, Aeon will strive to maintain a well-oiled machine befitting the legacy of his predecessor, a daunting task indeed, given the sometimes less-than-kind constraints of the twelve Horai, goddesses of daylight’s hours. (They demand sacrifices if you expect them to throw open windows upon serenity, and require the pouring out of libations to achieve seamless transitions.) As the latest personification of Chronos, Aeon may appear as a “young” man, “benevolent and beautiful in aspect” (in your dreams), while sitting beside his zodiac wheel. However, do not rule out the occasional glimpse of his shadow side, an old man with a flowing white beard, bent over his master calendar, battling it out with the arbitrary demi-god Schedule, and muttering, “Live in the now, live in the now.”
